SERVICES: Bovine: Herd Health
Herd Health and preventative medicine are our broad terms that sum up the majority of what we do every day at Leduc Farm Animal Hospital. This is important for both dairy and beef operations and can range from pregnancy diagnosis to in depth herd overviews. This can involve economic analysis, feed analysis, and performance analysis with changes being advised along the way. Some of these services include:
Dairy:
- Ultrasound guided pregnancy diagnosis, fetal viability assessment, ovarian assessment and fetal sexing.
- Complete protocol development in accordance with the Canadian Proaction guidelines. This includes protocols such as: vaccination, disease treatment, down cow management and recommended protocol for procedures such as dehorning.
- Mastitis culture and sensitivity testing to identify the most common pathogens in your herd and develop prevention strategies.
- Feed analysis and consultation.
- Parasite analysis and control strategies.
- Assistance with barn design for both cows and calves.
Beef:
- Ultrasound guided pregnancy diagnosis, fetal viability assessment, ovarian assessment, and fetal sexing.
- Bull breeding soundness examinations (Semen Testing).
- Protocol development similar to above. This ranges from vaccination programs to in-depth protocols required for verified beef production and various other specialized antibiotic free, hormone free, or welfare certified beef.
- Feed analysis and consultation.
- Parasite analysis and control strategies.
